11/17/10: Arthritis Foundation Gala on November 13 attended by GASP

Karen Blumenfeld and Alan Kantz of GASP attended the 2010 Arthritis Foundation Gala, on November 13, 2010 in Livingston, NJ. Smoking is linked with rheumatoid arthritis. A 2008 study showed that quitting smoking can reduce discomfort of swollen and tender joints in rheumatoid arthritis patients. An earlier Swedish study concluded that smoking can increase the severity of rheumatoid arthritis, and that former and current smokers had more joint damage and more severe symptoms than nonsmokers.
