3/6/14: Belmar Looking Into Adopting Smokefree Policy
The Asbury Park Press reported that during the Belmar Borough Council meeting on March 4, Mayor Matt Doherty mentioned that the city council will vote on a resolution to ban smoking along the boardwalk and on the beach at its next meeting on March 18. Belmar has several smoking zones near the boardwalk and beachfront area, but the city council is looking to eliminate those area in an effort to make the beaches and waterfront areas more family-friendly. Other beaches in the area such as Spring Lake, Seaside Park, and Seaside Heights prohibit smoking along their beachfronts.
